She is an old flame.

Artist Statement
The metaphor "she is an old flame" is represented in this image in various ways. The burned out candle in the middle of the image represents the old love that has been left in the past. The surrounding new candles represent the new relationships and people that the character has yet to meet. The lighter represents first meeting someone and the uncertainty on whether or not to take a chance and get to know them or to move on. When someone decides to take a chance on someone, the lighter can be used to light the flame of a candle (start a relationship with someone new). The two bracelets represent the love that the character and their "old flame" shared, which is now lost and scattered among many potential new flames. Lastly, the crumpled up paper and the teddy bear represent the memories that are still present in the mind of the character despite the flame of their love being burned out. I used a filter with a white haze to convey the idea that the old flame is a distant memory, and something that is not vivid or currently present in the character's life.
